Businesses in the Shoreditch area of Tech City, which has been mooted as the UK's answer to America's famous Silicon Valley, are still suffering from poor ADSL connections, according to local MP Meg Hiller.
Ms Hiller told PC Pro that a number of companies are having problems getting connected to superfast broadband in the area.
This is having a negative impact on the number of start-up firms being launched, potentially holding back the growth prospects of the area, she added.
"These companies are the lifeblood and are creating jobs and it's incredible that one of the main elements of their infrastructure is taking such a long time," declared the MP.
She urged the government to encourage telecoms companies to carry out the rollout of broadband services more quickly.
The Tech City Investment Organisation hopes to help expand the tech cluster in east London, giving firms the ability to form international links.
