ASA bans Bruce Willis advert header image

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a Sky Broadband advert that featured Bruce Willis.

It depicted the actor entering the office of a fictional broadband provider before choosing to switch to Sky's service instead.

However, a consumer complained to the ASA claiming the promotion did not make clear the commitment users would have to make to receive the company's service at the advertised price of £7.50 per month.

It was necessary to also purchase Sky Like Rental and TV to get broadband at this cost, but the ASA felt Sky did not make this clear and has deemed the advert to be misleading.

"We concluded that the ad did not make sufficiently clear the extent of the commitment consumers had to make in order to obtain the broadband service at the advertised price," the organisation stated.

It has told Sky the advert must not appear in its current form again.
